Are you paying the Switching Tax?

Task 1: Count 1-26
7 seconds

Task 2: Say A-Z
5 seconds

Task 3 – Switch between 1 & 2: Say 1 A, 2 B, 3 C, and so on.
Should take 12-13 seconds… No, it took me 33 seconds.

I just paid 20 seconds of “Switching tax”. When you switch from task A to task B, you need to reset, reboot the information required for the task before you can start working.

So if you switch between tasks often, you are paying a lot of switching tax in time currency – seconds, minutes or even hours.

And it is likely that you also spend time wondering how others get more work done.
